This feature allow Content Creators to create courses that are accessible in multiple languages. Learners will be invited to choose their preferred language, when they start the course.

🖌️ How to create a Multilingual Course? (Studio Admin)

To begin, log in to the Studio and create your course.

In Schedule & Details, you have to select at least two Course Languages to enable the Multilingual Course option.

In Settings>Group Configurations, you can enable the switch “Create a multilingual course”.

⚠️ This trigger different actions:
Once enable you won’t be able to disable it.
Content Groups will be created and named according to your selected language.
Cohorts (in the Instructor Dashboard of the course) will be created and named according to your selected language.
In your Course Outline a new Unit “Select your language” will be automatically added.

You can now add your course content.

We highly recommend to create your Multilingual Course using this following logic:

For exemple if you are creating a course in English, French and Spanish, each content must be placed into the same subsection with one unit per language. This is mandatory to ensure a great learner experience and be able to add badge to a graded sub-secti.

Moreover Sections, Subsections and Units can have alternative titles, allowing learners to have titles translated according to the language they have chosen. To access this feature, use the nut and then go under “Advanced” tab, like the screen capture below:

For each Unit, you need to determine which Groups will be able to access the Unit:

  • Click on the Unit settings
  • Choose Restrict access to: Content Groups
  • Select the group

🎓 Access a Multilingual Course (Learner)

Multilingual courses can be easily identified by the “Multilingual” label on the course card.

Once you open the course, learners will be force to select a language before accessing the content of the course.

After selecting the language, they will only see and have access to the content that has been determine when affecting the Content Groups.

Manage Cohorts (Studio Admin + Course team)

⚠️ Once Learners select a language, they will not be able to change the language on their own.

If the learners request to change their language, the Course Team can manage this change on the Instructor Dashboard:

  1. On the Cohorts tab, select the cohort/language to which you wish to move the learner
  2. Add Learner’s email or username
  3. The learner will then appear in the Cohort Membership table

Duplicate Multilingual Course

You can import/export a Multilingual Course so you can duplicate it.

Only Cohorts won’t be automatically duplicated. You will have to go to Settings>Group Configurations and click on Sync cohorts to create cohorts based on your existing Content Groups.
