Best practices for courses
- Course description: add a course description to present the pedagogical objectives and what will be the subject of the course. You can use bullet point to make your course presentation clear and easy to read.
- Course image: choose an image that respect your virtual identity and attracts your learner. This image will be seen on the catalog, learner dashboard… Recommended format: 400x310px in jpg. β
- Course banner: choose an image related to the main topic of the course. Recommended format: 1000x600px (ratio : 5:3) in jpg.
- Course duration: let learners know how long it will take them to complete it. This information is appreciated.
- Course introduction video: create a short teaser of your course to present your course in video. Lengh recommended: 1 minute to 2 minutes.
- Instructors: add instructor in the course presentation page to humanize the digital training course.
- Course duration: you can create course that are 30 minutes to several days lenght. We recommend you to create at maximum 10 sections and 6 sub-sections on each section on your course.
Best practices for sections and sub-sections
- Section and sub-section title: create a title that is enough explicit and if you can add story-telling and/or fun it will be much better.
- Subsection estimated time: give to learners information on how long it will take to complete the subsection.
- Modalities: in each section there must be knowledge transmission activities such as text, PDF, videos, SCORM module and any other type of document. Non-graded activities and survey must also be added to help learners better assimilate the knowledge.
- Quiz: do not forget to vary the type of the questions single choice, multiple choices, drop-down, blank text, numerical problem, image mapped input, drag and drop open questions, etc.
- Number of questions for each quiz: we recommend to create quiz with 3 to 10 questions at maximum.
- Diversify content: do not only add PDF into your course, but use also other existing tools in iframe such as Genialy, infographic with Canva, H5P, Prezi…
- Any modalities should relate to the storytelling of the course: quiz, activities, course content, synopsis, badges…
- File size: do not add heavy images or PDF on the platform to make smooth navigation.
Best practices for video
- Video duration: limit the video lenght to 10 minutes.
- When filiming the video, think about the video sound and image quality.
- As you define a virtual identity, use the same one for the video intro, outro and transition.
Best practices for badges
- Assignment type name: create a badge name that is explicit enough, coherent with the storytelling of the course (if you use one in the training course design) and with a bit of fun.
- Threshold: define a coherent grading rule for all badges.
- Grading image: design an attractive image to encourage learners to do the quiz and get the badge.
