Adding a cloud of key words (also known as: Word Cloud)

The learner enters the words in answer to a question, for example. All the words written by the learner appears in a graphic design. The design expands as the learner anwers the questions.

1. Go to the section Course Outline then into the desired unit, add the Advanced unit.

2. Select Word cloud.

3. Inside this component, click on EDIT and the component editor appears.

4. Fill in the following fields:

  • Display name: corresponds to the title of the word cloud and itwill be displayed on the learner platform.
  • Input: indicates the number of fields the learner can fill in (in the screen capture the number of fields is 6).
  • Instructions: it gives learners specific information about how to contribute to this word cloud. These instructions appear below the display name. It is important to provide clear instructions, especially for learners who have accessibility requirements.
  • Maximum Words: indicates the maximum number of words the cloud can contain. If learners enter 300 different words but the maximum is set to 250, only the 250 most commonly entered words appear in the word cloud.
  • Show Percents: if “true” is selected, it allows the learners to see the percentage of words most frequently typed once their own answers have been saved.
